Hey there, I’m Judy Rae!

Hi, I’m Judy Rae, the creator behind JudyRecipes.com. I’m a home cook, food blogger, and grandmother based in Spokane, Washington, and I’m dedicated to sharing the reliable, time-tested recipes that have kept families well-fed for generations.

My Culinary Journey

For the past 20 years, I’ve been seriously committed to mastering the art of home cooking—the kind of cooking that brings comfort, consistency, and joy to everyday meals. My journey started with a desire to create delicious, dependable food for my own family, and it’s grown into a lifelong passion that now extends to cooking for my grandchildren, extended family, and neighbors.

To build a solid foundation in cooking techniques and kitchen fundamentals, I completed culinary classes at our local community college. These courses taught me proper knife skills, cooking methods, food safety, and recipe development—skills that transformed me from an enthusiastic home cook into someone who could confidently tackle any recipe and troubleshoot when things didn’t go as planned.

Before dedicating myself to food blogging, I worked for many years as a school administrative assistant. That role taught me organization, attention to detail, and the importance of clear communication—all skills that translate directly into creating recipes that are easy to follow and consistently successful. When you’re managing a busy school office, you learn to be efficient and reliable, and I bring that same approach to my kitchen.

Why I Started JudyRecipes

I launched JudyRecipes.com in 2015 because I wanted to create a trusted resource for home cooks who value traditional, reliable recipes that actually work. After years of cooking for my family and hearing friends ask for “that recipe” time and time again, I realized there was real value in sharing the classic American meals, slow cooker favorites, and freezer-friendly dishes that had become staples in my kitchen.

As a grandmother now, I love teaching my grandkids to cook and passing down the recipes that have fed our family for decades. JudyRecipes has become that digital collection—a place where traditional home cooking is celebrated and preserved. What started as a simple recipe blog has grown into over 900 tested recipes, all prepared in my Spokane kitchen.

What Makes JudyRecipes Different

My Specialty: I focus on classic American meals, slow cooker recipes, and freezer meals that make life easier. My recipes are the ones you can count on for Sunday dinners, potlucks, holiday gatherings, and those busy weeknights when you need something dependable. From pot roasts to casseroles, apple pies to slow cooker soups, these are the recipes that define American home cooking.

My Cooking Style: Traditional, reliable, and seasonal. I believe in cooking with the seasons, using tried-and-true methods, and never sacrificing quality for shortcuts. My recipes aren’t trendy or complicated—they’re the classics that have stood the test of time because they work. When you make one of my recipes, you can trust it will turn out just as described.
